I just realized Luca and Konstantin had a similar discussion on May 21-22 about
the LogDevice abstraction. Luca gave an argument for the necessity of the
LogDevice, which is similar to the one I raised above. Deciding whether we'll
have the LogDevice abstraction or not is critical for us to work on
HADOOP-5189, and we would like to reach agreement soon so that we can make sure
to have it ready for 0.21. Unfortunately, it sounds like we are deadlocked. How
should we proceed?
Of course it would be great to hear more comments and suggestions.
