The problem is that if you do implement these changes, you may have to
drop support for 10.5 and 10.6 because of standard C++ library
compatibility issues (the changes below require the 10.7 SDK, which
has introduced incompatible signatures for std string streams).
It is probably time to stop supporting these older systems, but there
are still many audio customers using 10.6.
