I know of no list that specifically concerns this topic in general. If
you do, please let me know.

What I might not have made perfectly clear was that I am looking for
different mail administration tools, to see if there is anything already
created, that uses some specific LDAP format, that might suite my needs.
My "needs" were mostly described with a few words (maybe you didn't read
that part). As for the software I described, well, postfixadmin is what
I use now, and it pretty much does what I said I wanted (mailboxes,
aliases, virtual domains), but it has a MySQL backend.

I'm trying to gauge what's available so that I might not have to
reinvent the wheel.

Smtp and imap is not an issue here, really. I'm interested in the part
stored in LDAP, and a way to manage it in a simple way. At least with
postfix I can pretty much configure it according to LDAP, and postfix
doesn't have a preferred way of putting mail information into LDAP. I'm
new to Dovecot though, but from what I can tell, it's not going to be
much different there.

I'm looking for alternatives, to draw my own conclusions regarding it's
usefulness for me.

It's a good place to start, I think. There might be such systems as
Jamm/Phamm and postfixadmin, but they might not all be able to run with
Cosign without some modifications. This list is a good place to find out
if anyone is using such tools in their Cosign environment.

Primarily I will use Kerberos. But it's not likely that all mail clients
have support for SASL/GSSAPI. I also have a few web based systems that
need access to LDAP, that does not have SASL support. So I opted for a
simple bind solution. Passwords are stored in Kerberos, and users in
LDAP have a [EMAIL PROTECTED] userPassword entry.

It was just an idea that I might be able to have a fallback to plain
text authentication over TLS/SSL for clients that does not support Kerberos.
