Dick, If there is a high curve in the transfer tube ( wing to wing tank) then as the fule level gets below the high point, all flow will stop from the left wing to the right wing if a bubble occurs from the transfer. This breaks the siphon flow (if any). Then the right tank flows into the line where the pump sucks it up and pumps it into the cowl tank....leaving unused fuel in the left wing tank.
My coupe has a rubber hose connecting the tanks. I think that originally there was a metal line, with a bend in it to allow for expansion/contraction without rupturing the the metal line. If this :bend" isd located so that it is pointing up, then it could stop the flow from tank to tank. I think it should be positioned flat on the floor of the coupe, so that fuel can be gravity transferred between tanks.
