I "think" that the reason is that the pump sucks from the right
tank. If the high part of the "u" bend is above the tank fittings
for the cross over line then the fuel in the left tank that is
below the high point of the "u" bend would never get to the right
tank and be pumped. There would not be enough head to maintain
a siphon.

Once I have the floor boards up, I'll confirm this. The symptoms match
exactly another Coupers experience. If indeed it is the "u" bend, it'll
be an easy fix.
