While flying my Coupe, the header sight gauge level will fluctuate up and down over 1/2 inch. On extended X-country, it makes me nervous to see it start to go down when over 30 minutes from destination. Then, it goes back up to the top. Don't have any Idea as to why, it just does it. As for the bubbling, I suspect you've got a seal or gasket gone. Mine would fill up and then flow out and splash onto the windshield. A new header cap with the lexan sight tube cured that.
