One other thing that can happen, and it's very distracting... my near-new
'Fuel Proof' gauge's sight tube loosened up in flight and tilted over
about
25 degrees. Now, not having examined it closely I didn't know if it had
broken or what.

Anyway, it was a helluva lesson in 'fly the airplane' with that thing
sitting
up there cockeyed as hell. Quite distracting. It's amazing how much it
gets
used as a reference to what 'airplane up' is, when it's up there in your
face.
Heck, it's the only straight line anywhere near the forward field of
vision.
You kind of know that it's not a real flight factor but knowing and
keeping
it
from creeping into the front of your head are two different things!

Since then, I give the clear sight tube a little twist every so often to
make
sure that it won't shake loose again.
