My Alon A-2 #A35 was, I believe, the last serial number having the
lightweight windshield frame. Along with the plane, I received the
factory drawings for the canopy and system. None of the drawing versions
have more than the two inside latches. Extra latches were added by
owners to (I believe) correct bad fit of windshields, causing a poor fit
of the canopy to the frame.

The outside Neilsen latches can easily be purchased at hardware stores -
their design is unchanged and they are called out in the drawings. I
manufactured my own Delrin rollers per the drawings and the only reason
I saved money over purchasing them (see Warren's email) was because I
didn't have to pay myself.

I've noticed some Alons in the field that do not have a canopy stop
block mounted on the rear rail. It's important to have one to provide
additional protection against the canopy blowing off the aircraft. Real
easy to fabricate per the drawings.
