Brian, Normally the gear fairing lights are installed on each gear giving (theoretically) a landing light and a taxi light depending on how they are aimed.
The wing lights can be installed as a single light kit on one side, single light kits on both sides or there is a different kit for a dual light on one side. I have the dual in-wing on one side kit on my 415C. If aimed correctly you get a taxi and a landing light but I have not found it that easy to aim them radically differently. I have mine wired to a three position (center off) switch so only one can be on at a time (they drink current and I have a small generator). They come with 100W incandescent bulbs but there is a 50W halogen (4050 maybe?) that gives the same light output but at 1/2 the current (note that the light stc may not be legal with the halogen bulb - you may need to convince your FSDO to accept a 337). The in-wing lights are a fairly big project (one rib needs to be cut partially away) and will be much more expensive in time to install vs the fairing lights. I installed mine a long time ago so I do not have current pricing.
