I have a fairing light on each side of 2556H and my estimate is that I
lost
2-3 knots at best. It seems like there are so many other variables
affecting
my speed on any given day...I really don't notice it. I installed and
wired
them up in one day, with the A/P looking over my shoulder when I got up
under the instrument panel. He had no problem with the paper work. I
installed them in 1978 and the original bulbs are still working. I rubber
cemented a piece of 3/16 round rubber channel (I split the round channel
you install replacement screen wire in a storm door)around the mounting
piece where it attaches to the fairing and have had zero chaffing on my
fairings. The gray of the rubber channel just so happens to match my gray
fairings. The bad news is that in 22 years I probably haven't used them a
total of more than 4 hours...but every annual they still work. I use them
more to mark my presence in the pattern at dusk than I do to land in the
dark.
