----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Hi Chris, Welcome aboard! Since no one as yet has answered your C to D conversion question yet, as far as I can see, I'll answer it for you, since my mechanic and I converted mine a few years ago. Only a few parts are required for the conversion. One is the top fuselage skin from the firewall (frame A) back to frame B, only about 18 inches. The aluminum skin was not acceptable to the Feds, since it was under the top cowl, and they considered it to be part of the firewall. They required it to be made from stainless steel. The old aluminum skin actually extends back to the windshield, so that area in front of frame B must be cut, the rivets at frame A and and B and along the sides drilled out, and the new skin slipped into place and riveted in. It is not real easy, but can be done. The other parts are the elevator restrictor bolts, as you have mentioned. A collar is already located on each control shaft to limit the elevator to 14 degrees up travel. This collar must be relocated to limit the elevator to 9 degrees up, so new holes must be drilled in the shafts. You only need new bolts if your old ones are in poor shape. Some coupes (depending on serial number) have to have the main landing gear reworked slightly, but I didn't. We asked our local FSDO about putting a "split" elevator on a D, but they would not go for it. I have found plenty of ability to flare the airplane even with only 9 degrees of travel anyway, so I don' see it as necessary. Hope this has answered your questions, and I hope you have lots more.
