----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- The problem here is that I have seen "OWNER MAINTAINED" aircraft here in the US. They aren't supposed to be, but they are. Some of these are fine aircraft that are well maintained. Others, I wouldn't get into if my life depended on them. The prime motivator in owner maintenance is Money. I'm all for owner maintaining, but passenger beware. The little things that the owner feels are unimportant are going to remain faulty regardless of what the AD's say. The big things that are important will be repaired as funds are available, and owners will rationalize that flying without the repairs is OK, as they will be fixed soon. Sometimes, soon can be a looooong time.
