----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- The FBOs avionics person wants $300 to install an antenna on the underside of my 415C. The comm antenna is $160 and he claims reception/transmission with my Sporty's handheld will be excellent with this mounting configuration. Does anybody have this type of set-up? Does this type of work require avionics licesure and sign-off or can an A&P do this? I fully realize that this is an expensive game to play in, but that figure seemed a bit high to install an antenna, run some coax, and put a BNC connector on the end so I can attach to a handheld strapped to my leg.
