Pete, If you have a 415C, then your max gross weight is 1265 lbs (if I remember right). My old 415C weighed in at 868 lbs. Do the math, 1265-868 leaves only 397 lbs for pilots, fuel and bags. So that's a 210 lb pilot, a 140 lb wife and 47 lbs fuel ( 8 gallons). You either have to dump the passenger, or just fly in the pattern with your whoppin' 8 gallons. If you weigh 250, you better have a really thin wife. The 415D - G have a max gross of 1400 lbs. Much better. Now at least you can load some gas aboard and take your wife flying with you. Basically, the 415C is a single person airplane (legally). After reading the Fred Weick book, the early 415Cs were much lighter. The early design didnt have the heavier starter, generator or battery, and had 1 less fuel tank. I have to re-read that section of the book- if any of you have the book open please double check me on the numbers. jan z Fresno, ca On Wed, 10 Jan 2001 19:31:36 -0800 Pete Frenette <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following > any advice in this forum.]---- > > I have seen mail stating that the useful load in some coupes isn't > much. > I don't have the specs and don't know where to find them yet, but > an > average should work.
