Yes it is the perfect plane.  No doubt about it.  Limited hours have
nothing
to do with it.  It will be great for a beginner, especially with your
Cherokee experience.  Metal wings are a big plus.  I have compared metal
and
fabric side by side and I really can't tell a difference.  Also, having
the
O200 will make it the plane the coupe was intended to be!  The pedals
don't
matter as you can fly it without ever, ever using them.  The CD probably
will have the nice quadrant throttle controls too.  Buy it, but first get
a
good inspection by a mechanic familiar with the type.  They don't have to
be
a real expert, but do get somebody who has worked on Ercoupes before.
