Thanks George! I tried to hit on as many areas as I could think of. Buying that first plane is really an eye opening experience. I was lucky on the wing corrosion and it wasn't a factor in my case, but I saw later that it could have easily made my investment worthless. I really didn't know what I was looking at. I was also pressured by the fact that I drove many hours to see the plane and another guy was scheduled to look at it later that weekend. I won't ever do that again! All the Ercoupes that I saw while shopping had engines covered with oil so I was easily led to believe that this was normal. Overall, I think I still got a great plane for the money, but I still have some issues to work out. Does anyone have any idea how I can get documentation on previous upgrades? I have about a 10 year gap in my documentation from the late 70's to the late 80's. I have an awesome 4 point seatbelt upgrade and have nothing to show when it was done or by whom. I also have a relatively new interior, again no documentation. The work has been professionally done, but I couldn't even begin to guess who did it. And what about instruments that have been added along the way? I also have a C85 engine as per the dataplate, but again no documentation. Any suggestions? The buyer should NEVER allow emotions to overpower logic when considering the purchase of an airplane! The results of allowing this to happen will cost many $$$$$$$$$$$$$!
