Thinking back on putting the rings on my fabric wings I think I soaked the rings in a dish of lacquer thinner for a short while and that made them soft and sticky, I then just stuck them onto the fabric where required. They have been there now for 4 years with no problem. I just cut out a few more holes recently to look more closely for corrosion.
