Yes, I think this is the bottom line. I'd add to that, for most pilots
trained
in the 60's or beyond, the way they'll have to fly an 85HP Ercoupe, fully
loaded, in the high mountain states will not please them.

For guys who grew up in J2 Cubs (pre J3) or Aeronca C3's, or anything
with an OX5, this would make sense. These guys understand that if you're
climbing, and find a thermal, you circle in it to USE the God-given
advantage. They also understand that trees have claws and sometimes
the best course of action is to take a nap under the wing until it cools
off.

For most of us young bucks, a suitable two-seater for flying out of places
like Granby, CO., is a 150HP Citabria. Or a Cessna 150 or Grumman AA1
with an O-320 conversion. Or a big-engine Swift. Maybe a Super Cub. (Buy
the Super-Cub... ...a good one appreciates faster than a house in a good
neighborhood.)

Anyway, I think we're in agreement here... ...the 'Coupe will be fine high
and/or hot, but you may not be as happy with it as I am with mine down
here at 500MSL.
