I acquired an ERCO COMPREG prop some time back and I am attempting to to fill in some informational gaps, as it will be offered for sale. The ERCO os a variable-prop, 90" long, 7.5" at its widest point and weighs in at 60 lbs. Stamped into the machined steel hubs is A.A.F. 43K12157. It was manufactured by the Engineering and Research Corporation, Riverdale, Maryland possibly under the brothers Henry and Emile Berliner. This may have been an experimental prop. Has a splined shaft on one end and a receiver on the other and have been preserved with a covering of tape and silicone. It is of laminated wood, however, I am unfamiliar with what type. The leading edges are covered in riveted brass. This prop is in absolutely sterling MINT CONDITION and never has seen fly time. Berliner-Joyce Company was later acquired by the General Aviation Corporation and subsequently by North American Aviation. Many props were developed for wartime use. The information I am seeking is, was this an experimental prop, was it developed as a prop to be used for Navy planes or other aircraft and what type, how many were produced, is it pre WWII, WWII or post WWII and its valuation in terms of its MINT CONDITION and rarity. Any information will be most appreciated. Please contact Hal Rubin, 815-858-9764, email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Pix of this ERCO can be viewed at the following site www.lanofoz.com/ebay/prop. It has been a mystery ever since I acquired this prop and I'm certain there are some ol' timers, enthusiasts, or aficianados who have the answers I seek. Thank you.
