Hal, try contacting the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.  They are by far
the EXPERTS on aviation
artifacts, and, I am sure they can tell you the history of the prop.  I
was touring the Minnesota Air
National Guard base aviation museum in Minneapolis about 15 years ago and
saw an ERCO wood prop
displayed in a glass case there.  I can't remember what the prop was used
on.
