The weights are bolted to the spinner bulkhead using glue or adhesive weights like on car wheels are prohibited. Wind has no effect on the balancing unless it is really blowing hard enought to bow your blades then I wouln't be out there. It usually takes 11/2 to 2 hours three or 4 runs usually. The equipment is small but expensive my Chadwick cost $7500.00. You get it below .2 IPS (inches per second) this is the velocity that it is measured in with a pickup on the engine. 90% of the over 200 aircraft that I have balanced need it! People are some times reluctuant to spend the $125 that I charge but they would spend $50 for a tire and think nothing of paying $7.50 to balance it, you don't see any tread wearing but everthing on the aircraft is worn or cracked by the vibration.Jim N87349 A&P ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Lloyd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Joa and Kristie" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Ercoupe Technical discussion" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2002 12:41 PM Subject: Re: [COUPERS-TECH] Re: Digest list: Ercoupe Technical discussion (moderated) > ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- > > > Joa,sometimes they come to you because the equip. is small enough to > carry around and uses batt..The cost in Ct. is around 100-150 > dollars. They used to put the wts. behind the spinner but I have heard > that the had to change to a diff. sys. in the last couple years. They > might use some type of adhesive now not sure.Try to pick a day when you > have no wind or are able to put the plane behind a hanger or trees to > block the wind. This mach. is that sensitive. It will take a while to do > unless you are lucky but count on at least an hour.Make sure your batt. > is fully charged because you will do a lot of starting and stopping. We > always get mine down to .02 whatever that means. They tell me that if you > can get it that low and keep it there during a few more tests, your eng. > and prop are in good shape.Jim in Ct. > > ================================================================== > TO UNSUBSCRIBE go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm > > > > ================================================================== TO UNSUBSCRIBE go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
