Bob,
Don't know what model Coupe you have, but most of the heat vents enter the
cabin under the floorboards. Sounds like you have the fresh air vent
hooked
up to the heat muff. I would keep the heat vent on the bottom of the cowl
closed all the time (found it to be useless) and switch the fresh air hose
back and forth between the heat muff and direct into the top of the cowl
in
summer and winter. Worked fine. Let me know if you need details. BTW a
small hole in the low point of the hose takes care of h2o draining.

> Has anyone out there had this experance? Yesterday I was flying at about
3000/ with outside temp at about 30 degrees and descovered that the cabin
air vent would not close. I attempted for the first time, since buying
this
aircraft to open the cabin heat control in flight. On doing so I got a
lap
full of water. There was enough to have a fellow pilot inquire, on landing
for fuel, if I had a long trip and had an accident.
> The unexpected volume of fluid being ejected from under the instrument
panel, to say the least scared the hell out of me. All I could think was
gasoline, the only normal possible source of fluid I could think of, from
this area. I finally relized it was only water after a careful smell test.
What I'am trying to figure out is how could that much water be retained in
the heat ducts. There has been some heavy rain the past couple weeks but
shouldn't there be a drain in the duct system to avoid this. Could this
much
water be turned to steam when passing the exhaust stacks or cause same to
rust out. Any comments or fixes from any knowledgable parties would be
apreciated
