Chad, I don't think there is more of a problem with painted coupes/or unpainted ones.....
Alunimum oxidozes and forms a protective coating on the surface of the metal - however this is a dull surface... So if you want a shiny coupe, find one that has not been painted, or restore a previously painted one - very difficult to get it all clean, and repolish the surface. Once polished , paint with clear coat......, and wax, and polish, and wax, etc...The original shiny finish (Alunimum clad - Alclad) was removed when the coupe was initially painted. Mine is painted, and I'm in the process of repainting...... Wish it had never been painted....but... Either way, if you can keep the bird in a hanger, that is the best......to keep the coupe dry when in storage. Regards, Fly Safe - Have Fun Harry Francis N93530 S/N 853 Blacksburg, Va.
