I went through the same agony when I was trying to make a choice. I also
love the looks of a highly polished 'Coupe....they really are sharp! I
bought a painted 'Coupe and soon after began a restoration with the
intention of stripping the paint and polishing it out. When the paint
came
off I discovered the underlying aluminum had places where it wasn't going
to
shine so well. So I ended up painting it. Now, I'm very happy with a
painted 'Coupe and glad, for me, that I didn't end up with a polished
surface. Only because I've since learned how much work and attention it
takes to keep them looking good. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to
polishing
and, for me, I know I would have hated the task and I live in dry Arizona.
I think it's more a matter of a choice to do work than one of climate.
