Quote from page 181, "From The Ground Up", para 2, " Because of our
airplane's
spin-proof and two control features, government testing was exceedingly
thorough. To give a reasonable margin of error for the spin test, for
example,
we had to put the center of gravity at 27 percent of the mean aerodynamic
chord, even though the approved version a rearward limit of 24 percent was
required."

An additional reference is page 216, 2nd para., and refers to the the new
classification of light airplanes - Normal Catagory - which allows a
higher
load factor if the airplane was restricted from aerobatics.... This refers
to
the new loading of 3.8 G positive load factor maximum. The coupe had been
designed to the previous limits , which I think was 5 Gs, positive.... "
This
new classification allowed us to increase the Ercoupes gross weight from
1260
to 1400 pounds".
