I saw an Ercoupe about 6 years ago at Oshkosh with a Beech-Roby
controlable pitch prop. The prop was manually controlled by another
push-pull knob on the instrument panel, about 2" left of the starter
knob. The owner was not around the airplane, but some information about
the prop was on the prop sign. Very interesting. I have not seen one
before or since.
One of our local pilots (Wausau, WI area) recently purchased an
Aeronca
Chief with an Aeromatic prop. As Tom says, it is fully automatic,
controlled by the air load. You can walk up to the (not running)
airplane, take hold of one blade and twist it. The other blade twists
also. The blades twist very easily by hand. Also very interesting.Syd Cohen NC94196
