-----Original Message----- I have tried both....the koppers required a LOT of
maintanence. and didn't do a very good job...thankfully, they are no
longer...However the beech roby prop was prety good for it's day, and there are
a few still about, however there are possibly only one or two people who know
enough to work on them...I have one of the only manl's left...I used it on my
75-85, and ever on my 100 ercoupe...it was adjustable from the cockpit with a
crank like a window crank in a car. the wood
blades are a PAIN to keep from wood ills, but it does do the job...you can still
find some airworthy ones about for around $7-800.00...I even found one that the
guy thought it was no good, and didn't turn, that he sold it to me for
50.00..thoes things don't come along very often....good flying...btw, I have a
teeny two experemental for sale, if you know of anyone looking for a good
deal.....jolly

What little I have been able to research is that it was an adjustable pitch propeller with wooden blades that had no control...aka, it would automatically adjust the propeller pitch based on load. The other is a controllable Beech R002 or R003 which has a propeller control, although aparently is not constant speed. (?) Does anyone know anything about these? Are they still available, if not, why not? Sounds like a great idea!-Tom |
