The balance weights were removed due to the continued failure of the mounting points - service bulletin #57 addressed the issue, and stated that removal was proper -----" As a ressult of recent tests and analysis, it has been determined that theaelrion weights on the Ercoupe may be removed and that the aelrion will still maintain freedom from flutter throughout the operational range ofthe airplane, provided the aelrion free play does not exceed 5/16"."
