I understand that the coupe on floats was lost during certification flight tests by the Caa (now FAA). I will try to find the references, but I think I have read about it on this list. As I understand, the limits on the elevator were removed, the two control system revised to three control and water rudder,; and during certification flight the aircraft became unstable, and entered a spin. After uncessfully trying to recover from the spin ( or uncontroled attitude, the CAA test pilot parachuted and the aircraft crashed, destroying it.
I will try to find more info. Maybe other members will be able to add more info. It sure was pretty, tho; wasn't it! Regards, Harry Francis 93530 Blacksburg, Va.
