An interesting posting. I had been wondering whether my tach was telling
the
true story so I recently purchased a TruTach Digital Tach from Aircraft
Tool
& Supply ($89.95). During two separate tests I found the tach to be
reading
an average of 122 RPM low during cruise (2325 - 2450 RPM) and 53 RPM low
during idle (700 - 1200 RPM). The cruise tests included a total of 10 data
points. I plan to conduct some more tests to further confirm the results
with one at 1700 - 1800 RPM. I was unable to check the tach during runup
since
I was facing into the sun.
