I know it's not automatic, but I'm sure it helps a mechanic and an
inspector 
to make a decision when they see what others have deemed airworthy.

Sometimes things make no sense: When I put the Millenium cylinders on the
plane, they didn't even require an STC OR a 337.  They were a 
bolt-on replacement part.  Figure that one out.
