What engine do you have?

What prop pitch?

What model?

What empty weight?

What gross weight?

Has your tach been checked? My 46 pitch McCauley prop takes me about
100 mph at 2400 rpm.

Did you check your airspeed using a GPS going the square course
suggested? What did you get?

I've heard a lot from those who advocate letting the engine spin fast.
Especially with a flat climb prop, you are unlikely to harm the engine,
they say. I've rarely heard discordant opinions.

The other day, I got 103 by GPS with the windows open cruising at 2550
rpm in my C-85 415-D at gross weight and 2000'msl. That was really good
with the windows open.

Heretofore, I've always limited my cruise to 2400 rpm at which I get an
accurately measured 100 mph with the windows closed. At this rpm I think
I burn about 5.4 gph.

You may get there faster cruising slowly and more efficiently and
passing up a fuel stop so look for opportunities to do that. Fuel
mileage goes way up as speed goes moderately down.
