Yes, I was also taught to land like that. I normally carry about 1500rpm through base, and than reduce to idle after I turn final. I than use throttle to control sink rate, while controlling air speed with pitch. I only have 10 hours and 20 landings in my coupe to date. With more experience, and a CFI with coupe experience, I hope to master the landing faze of flying this plane.
