we were sitting around discussing the relative safety between a sinker
like
a Ercoupe or Tripacer and a floater like a 172 , and I said I guess it
would be safer if you lost an engine in a 172 than it would be in my
Ercoupe.  One wise old instructer disagreed with that , he said if you
loose
an engine in the Ercoupe you look down and know you are going to land
right
below you and you study things and make the it the best you can. with a
C172
you think you can glide several miles, the ground almost always looks
smoother in the distance so you glide over there only to fine it is as
rough
as right below you. The only advantage you might have is how slow you can
get the plane just before you touch down.
