'Just wanted to introduce myself to the rest of the coupe lovers around. I own and fly N2686H out of Orcas Island, in Washington State (about 80 miles north of Seattle.) I bought 86H about two years plus ago in pieces, no engine virtually no instruments, and sorely in need of love. Before purchase I was able to inspect the spars and found them like new, and no other problems surfaced. Complete rebuild, including Stits, and the installation of a low time C85, took about seven months of my spare time, with a lot of help from my favorite AI. The plane is now essentially brand new (always remembering it will be 52 years old this September and will always require periodic scrutiny.) I did buy that expensive double fork; the next major purchase will be for Clevelands.
Come to the Orcas Island 15th annual fly-in (Jul 31, 1-2 Aug) and I'll give you a ride. We usually get 4-6 visiting coupes as well as "the other" types. Regards-Mike
