        That explains why I couldn't find a place on my engine where a
spin on
filter could be mounted. My engine already has the oil filter mounted in
that location. I'm about ready to do my first oil change since buying the
Coupe last August. I had the mechanic do one last August so I could see
how
to do it myself. I think I will leave the oil cooler in place even if it
means staying with the awkward, messy job of cleaning the screen. I plan
on
changing the oil every 25 hrs and cleaning the screen every 50 hrs.
        At one time when I was having serious problems with oil blowing
out the
breather I was thinking of making an air/oil separator and flowing the
separated oil back into the crankcase with gravity, but I couldn't find a
place where I could return the oil to the crankcase, that's part of the
reason why I wondered where the spin on filter mounted. I don't think it
would be wise to trade the oil cooler for the filter, but I'd be
interested
to see what you feelings are.
        I'm now feeling much better about the oil loss, now that I am not
ever
exceeding 2400 rpm. I used to takeoff with only 3 qts of oil and even then
sometimes lost a full qt in less than an hour, causing the oil pressure
gage to start fluctuating (not good). Based on the last few hrs, starting
out with full 4 qts of oil, I seem to only be using about one tenth qt per
hr, a lot better!
        I'm keying this message to the coupers list, it might be of some
use to
others.
