Jack, Should be no need for quickdrain in the carb bowl, as water should have been trapped in the gascolator, and drained from there. The quick drains do leak sometimes, so I would want as few as necessary, especially in the engine compartment.
A note of interest, somewhere I saw a diagram of the fuel pump, and it had a quickdrain on it. I checked mine, and there is a plug that could be utilized - but not such a good idea, as they sometimes do leak, and a small dripping on the cyl heads is not a good thing. Therefore I don't recommend utilizing a quickdrain on the fuel pump!! I have considered installing an additional gascolator between the wing tank fuel cut off valve and the fuel pump. This would prevent any water getting to the fuel pump, and into the header tank - also would prevent possibility of freeezing and bursting the fuel pump due to water. I think Univar ought to consider this as a service bulletin. The difficulty I see is finding a safe mounting place - on the firewall, where the fuel line passes through is right above the muffler and exhaust pipe - not a good place for a potentially leaking quick drain, but maybe a long drain line to the bottom of the cowling would satisfy this concern.
