Pete,
I have argued this point with Paul Prentess more times than I care to
count
but just for the hell of it I'll put it out for this group. The 114mph is
the designed max cruise speed (HP  VS  drag) not the max structural speed
which is 144 MPH, which according to Fred Weick in a conversation I had
with him several years ago at the Chicken Ranch was an arbitrary number.
He
wouldn't tell me what the actual number really is but just smiled and said
it was quite conservative. BTW the maneuvering speed is 108 MPH (max speed
in rough air speed).
