Syd and the Group, Add to the Bulletin, that the reason for the CD designation was that it had the stainless steel cowl cover that was mistakenly left off of the C model. I think this occured because the C model was originally certified with the Erco IL-116 Engine, with cowling that stopped at the firewall. When the Continental engine became available -(before any sales of the airplane - it was selected for use due to cost concerns), the cowling now required actually covered the forward fuselage; and should have required installation of the stainless steel fire proofing, as required by the CAA regulations. The D model incorporated this modification for safety reasons, and is one of the reasons a C model must be converted to a D model in order to utilize the 0-200 engine. I think all owners of C models should have the stainless Steel covering installed - just makes sense to me.
