It would take *much* more than just replacing the wings to create and
experimental "conversion". The FAA frowns very heavily on modifying
a
certified plane to convert it- you must show that the plane has been
"amateur built" or IOW that at least 51% has been built by the owner.
The FAA has a really long list of all the items on the plane and the
inspector goes down that list and checks them off and then adds them
up to see if more than half have been done by the owner. The trick
here is that some of the "big" items you would normally think would
carry a big percentage count just as equally as the small items so in
the end you really have to modify about every part on a certified
plane to make it comply (or just get very lucky with the inspector).

Wouldn't it be nice if some aeronautical engineer decided to build a
set of composite wings for the Coupe? He would not have to STC them,
I would just convert to experimental catagory.
