Alexandria Field has a BT13 and a PT17 owned by the same lucky gent.

The '13 is one of the nicest still flying, and one of these days I'm
supposed to
cadge a ride. I've flown a Stearman (PT17), but there is something about
the PT19's Tonka Toy (or Cox) look that just gets me. Also, the PT19
has less of a tendency to make landings a 'guess what happens next!'
sort of proposition. That's nicer after a long day at work. Besides, a
good
19 is less than half the price of the Stearman.

PT23s strike me as a bit more exotic, especially the ones with the Kinner
engines. Again, there is something about the PT19 with the silky Ranger
engine that just gets me. Though the 220 Continental radial version is
kind of nifty, too (albeit rare).

A stock Stearman or PT19 won't bust the bank in terms of fuel... not
really much different per hour of knocking around than a PA28-180. Now,
the P&W 450 up on the nose of a BT13 or Super Stearman gulps gas,
but that's a different story, and a different story...
