"Vern, of course you are 100% correct on your reply. The point is that at
some point we will need new wings, or face parting out the airplane.
Considering inflation, I would rather buy a new set of wings now for
$7,000
and sell my airworthy wings for $3,000. That way new wings are only
$4,000.
If I wait until they are no longer airworthy, that option is no longer
valid. From the looks of many of the "Coupes" I have seen out there, they
are not too long from being parted out for more reasons than wings."

George,
You have the right idea. Many would be better off if they would enjoy the
peace of mind that new sound wings would give them. If you sell your
"Airworthy" wings now or in the near future you may well get $ 3,000 or a
little more and the person buying them would be getting a good value.
I am sorry to say that you are also right when it comes to Coupes. They
seem to come in three types; Fully restored and in great shape, good solid
flying machines and a good number of them that are in a neglected state.
In
the end the last group bring down problems on all of us because it will be
a corroded wing on one of these that will fall off in flight and kill some
poor person and the FAA will do a knee jerk reaction that will produce an
AD that will be very hard to live with for many Coupe owners.

Vern, Where do I send my deposit. $ 6000. for new wings is a
steal. Used wing if you can find them. $2.000 a pair.
New wing no AD's. No tears for years. Lets see the paper work.
Then
the check is in the mail.
Warren, I wish I could ask you to send the deposit right now. It would not
be fair to you to do that. The wings have been Single use STC'ed and the
work to get them a multiple use STC may be done one day soon. The real
problem is the market. It would take firm orders for between 25 and 30
sets
of wings to make the investment in the FAA paper work and the very limited
tooling to make the program pay for its self. I am by nature a very
philanthropic guy but I can not float this one for only one order as I am
sure you can understand. It is just something of a Catch 22. If I could
see
the real interest with a nice line of customers ready to place real
deposits I could see my way to work the problem much harder. It is a
better
"mouse trap" but I will not hold my breath until the world of Ercouper's
beats a path to my door.
Have a great day.
Best regards,
Vern
