Conversion to model D from C or CD requires only that the firewall extention over the header tank be stainless steel; the elevator travel be restricted to 9 degrees (I believe to maintain the no stall characteristic at 1400# gross); and a couple decals which say "no smoking" and "no aerobatics allowed"; and a model D operator's handbook. A new registration and airworthiness certificate also were required. I'm not sure when the 85 HP became a requirement, but it wasn't with the Model D. The elevator restriction is not a problem - just don't get too slow on final!!!
