Looks like I started something here, several replies with the same
question.
That's why the call to our FISDO. Dave and I are both A&P's, we have 2
IA's
that are interested in working on the idea as well. Some components wold
be
a simple STC and the PMA paperwork is on it's way through the snail mail
as
well as the repair station paperwork. We are looking at this in a
realistic
format, I say this so as not to raise to many hackles and have folks think
we are some fly by night dreamers who think they can get rich. Anyone that
thinks that they could retire a wealthy person in venture such as this
needs to take a serious look at how they think they could do it. We simply
see a need and hope to find a way to fill it, Leagally. The love of the
aircraft is a lot of it and we all have regular jobs that luckily allow
time
to work on the idea. As to the wing spars, a couple have expressed the
concern of the complexity of their construction and specialized materials.
These can be worked with considering we have a "Full" machine shop at our
disposal and considerable combined years in using the machines. We have
also
considered that they could be redesigned and constructed at a lower cost
as
an STC. I admit it may not work out, but we never know until we try and
now
is as good a time as any to start.

How will you get around the PMA requirement to produce parts? If you are
producing
a part as the agent of the owner-operator to be installed on the
owner-operator's
airplane, will this negate the PMA requirement.
