Don't know where my minds been, maybe too much focus on these other mindless threads!!  Back in the old days, ( in western N.Y.) we used to hang a 60-100 watt light bulb inside the cowl, then throw a blanket over it. (the cowl)  Keeps everything warm and toasty all the time, eliminates condensation which occurs both after shut-down in cold weather, and radical changes in ambient temps during the fall and spring. And it doesn't cost much to operate.  I'm on my way to the hangar now to accomplish the task.  I would also like to remind those like myself with other than continentals, that the Lycoming top mounted cam is hard to lubricate, and should not be started without warming the oil, ( and hopefully the whole engine,) and pulling the prop through at least  one complete cycle to re-distribute pooled oil.
