        Still trying to sell my Coupe but even when I do I will probably
hang
around this list because it's the next best thing to flying for me.
        I'm sure most all of you already know that if the magneto ground
is loose
or disconnected the engine could start even with the mag switch turned
off.
I always turn the prop backwards, by hand, before starting the engine.
Notice I said BACKWARDS, that way the impulse part of the mags doesn't
operate and allow it to start at slow rpms. However if your engine is
equipped with a dry vacuum pump, turning it backwards can cause damage to
the vanes in the pump and should be avoided.
        This may sound like unneeded info but if it prevents an injury or
death
it's well worth saying.
