There's one procedure I haven't heard anyone mention so far. I first saw this as part of the engine shutdown checklist (checklist!!) for our T-41's. First, the engine is idled at about 1000 RPM. After the avionics and electronics are turned off, the ignition (mag) switch is MOMENTARILY turned to "OFF". If the engine tries to die, it can be assumed that the switch and grounding wire are functioning. The engine is then shut down normally with the mixture control. Obviously, this will only work with carbs equipped with mixture controls which will go to full fuel cutoff. This seems like a cheap and easy check on switch and grounding wire integrity and should make propping the engine just a little safer. Regards, Dave in Alamogordo, NM
