Warren: On mine, one horizontal edge of the aluminum stiffener it is bent up and around at a very short radius to form a narrow tube which acts to strengthen the assembly.  Do yours not have this, and if not, do you notice any wind flapping in flight?  What then is the thickness of your acrylic or lexan?  I'm using .060 lexan which is very flexible and I'm sure needs this extra support.
