All right Guys, let me say this about that. First, cheap steel? Bull pucky! If you buy a case hardened bolt, and it is the correct spec, it's a good bolt. Second, if you use a drill press, and secure the bolt, there is no reason you can't put that hole right down the center of the pike. Third, the true nature of plating is that you can plate the outside of an object, but the plating won't go down into the inside of a hole or cavity. If you think that the inside of the hole in a drilled bolt that you buy has plating in it, you're out in lala land.
