Well, John, I sure do. Sometimes a problem is so common people just say "They all do that", and don't take it as seriously. Every airplane I've flown has had a little oil on the belly.
In an unscientific poll, I checked the bellies of the light aircraft where I am and found all of them (including a few of the pilots themselves) had oily bellies. Mine, like many other coupes is happy at about 3 quarts. I may use the soda can on a trip sometime to estimate just how much is blowing out. My outlet tube goes up at 45 degrees and all the way over the case, coming down and exiting just through the bottom of the lower cowl, where the end is cut at an angle. Removing the elbow seems to also require removal of the prop and nosebowl to get at, so I guess I'll wait till annual time to pull it and see if there's an inside extension on the elbow. Hate to do all that just to find it's already been done. What are the circumstances that lead to oil being siphoned out (tube sticking too far out, too little, point of exit, etc)?
